Sermon Text: 1 Timothy 1:18-20
This distortion of the truth of God is all around us today and is as old as the garden of Eden and the fall of mankind into sin. As Christians we are to stand for the truth and recognize and resist distortion of the truth.
It was for this reason that Paul had left Timothy in Ephesus; Paul wrote his letter so that Timothy would “know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15)
Of specific interest was that Timothy was told to “remain on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines.”
Our text today urges fighting the good fight as an explanation of what Timothy was do, what we are to do, in the church. As we look at 1 Timothy 1:18-20 we find that the Christian battle is different from all other battles.
