Connected to Serve

Date Preached: January 21st 2018
Sermon Text: 1 Timothy 1:1-2
Title: Connected to Serve

Disunity in the body of Christ is a great hindrance to the progress of the Gospel and to people's salvation. Disunity among Christians, and in churches, and between churches is a huge, and very present problem among God's people.

Do you know what Jesus prayed for us just before He went the cross and died for our sins? It is recorded in John 17:21

that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.”

Jesus prayed, and said, that our unity is how the world may believe that the Father sent Jesus. On the other hand, our disunity, our failure to be unified, tells the world that Jesus did not come.

Today, as we begin a series on 1 Timothy we find that there is a focus on relationships; specifically relationships among believers. Paul is writing to Timothy because of their relationship. We will see that it is our relationships that allow ministry to occur.
