Different and yet the Same

  Date Preached: 4/9/17
Speaker: Jeff Mullins
Sermon Text: Colossians 3:18-4:1

Today we come to a text that seems to highlight differences. The verses in the text are addressed to various different people: wives, husbands, children, and even slaves. People, in most cases that are different from us.

We may even read this text and think, “most of this does not apply to me.” But you are a Christian; Yes? There is more here for each one of us than we might initially think.

In Colossians 3:18-4:1 we find instructions, actually commands, directed at people in different stages and roles of life. But, among those differences, there are commonalities. Those things we have in common. We roles differ, but we are all follows of  the same Jesus, all to submit, all are accountable, all are to look to His return, all have the same master and we all are to grow to have the same characteristics of Jesus. If we are willing to follow, there is no doubt that He will lead us into a holy life of love and peace to the glory of God.
