A Stirred Memory

Memorial Day was borne out of the Civil War and a desire to honor our dead. Have you ever wondered why we find it necessary to set aside a special day to remember what we should naturally remember. It is a commentary on human nature that we forget many things that are important.

Do you find that remembering the truth of God is particularly challenging? I mean as you go through your day, do you remember the promise of God's love, forgiveness and mercy? Do you consciously think about resurrection from the dead, eternal life, the spiritual blessings of God?

How can our faith be strong if we do not constantly remember the object of our faith. These things are challenging, but there are things that can aid our memory so that we can be faithful. There are three memory aids that we can identify in 2 Peter 3:1-2.
